My Daily Skincare & Makeup Routine

The one thing about me that I shamelessly don’t compromise on is skincare. Not only have I been getting an assortment of facials since I was in my early 20’s, but I also invest in good skincare and makeup products to help keep my skin stay dewy and youthful. I’m not one for botox. The thought of needles in my forehead give me the hebe jebes. I could change my mind on that one day when my wrinkles get more defined. But I really do believe in natural aging. The French usually do this as an artform. So I’ll take after the French, and hope that by caring for my skin over the years, it will allow me to age with grace. So here are my top tried and tested favorites that I use daily in my skincare & makeup routines.

Daily Skin Routine for Fresh and Flawless Skin:

  • Avene Eau Thermale Spring Water Mist Spray: This is an absolute must. I can honestly tell a difference if I don’t use this as a base to hydrate my skin after washing my face and prior to my serums. It’s a clean, natural boost to your moisture game.

  • Skinceuticals Phyoto Corrective Gel: I’ve used this consistently for the last 10 years minimum morning and night. My skin tends to have a bit more redness, particularly if I have a beloved zit that decides to pop up on my chin… So this serum is a great equalizer to help tone down redness and keep your skin feeling hydrated.

  • SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum: One of my favorite new additions to my routine. This serum is amazing. I started using it within the last few months and I can see a noticable difference in my melasma. If not just a help for dark sun spots that already exist, it also prevents new ones to form. I’ve been out in the sun quite a bit this summer, and I can say that I haven’t even had freckles dawn my face. I only use this serum in the morning in combination with the Phyto Corrective Gel.

  • SkinCeuticals Resveratrol B E Night Serum: I got a small sample of this a few months back when I ordered some other skinceutical refills. I was hooked. It makes your skin feel tight and fresh in the morning. I would definitely recommend this to help with anti-aging. I could be just placebo effect but I feel like my fine lines have decreased in just a few months of use.

  • Avene Eau Thermale Hydrance Aqua Cream-in-Gel Moisturizer: Ugg, this moisturiser gives me joy. It is so creamy and smooth, and ultra hydrating. It literally feels like I’m applying a luscious layer of water on my face. Plus, it makes your makeup application so smooth and leaves you with a dewy finish. Please go out and collect a jar or two ASAP!

  • Origins Super Spot Remover: For when one of those dreaded bumps pops up on your face… have one of these tiny bottles in your medicine cabinet. I dab a tiny q-tip amount on a spot and POOF just overnight I can tell a difference.

  • Osmosis Purify Enzyme Cleanser: This facewash is so refreshing. It is the perfect way to clean your face and keep acne at bay. I was introduced to this brand via my esthetician that I’ve been seeing for years. I trust her fervently… and she didn’t lead me astray. This skincare line also has amazing serums, masks and enzyme boosting sprays as well that I’ve used in the past that I’ve also thoroughly enjoyed.

  • Osmosis Deep Clean Detox Cleanser: For those days that you really need an extra deep clean of your face, I’d recommend this facewash. I’ve actually migrated to using it nightly, particularly in the summer. I find it gives me the extra boost of clean I’m looking for.

Makeup Must Haves for a Lowkey Daily Look:

  • Jane Iredale Mineral Press Powder (Warm Sienna): Once I found this line… I’ve never turned back. I’ve been using this press powder as my foundation for over 15 years. They have so many shades to choose from, and it gives you a clean flawless finish for daily wear. Plus, it has SPF 20 in the formula so you have one less step in the morning when you’re rushing out the door. I’ve never been a liquid foundation gal… it just makes me feel cakey and usually I’ve never been able to keep acne at bay when I use them consistently. So this press powder is my go to in the Warm Sienna shade!

  • Nars Bronzer (Laguna): mmm this bronzer. Another long time favorite. It’s a great shade for a sun kissed look year round.

  • Nars Blush (Orgasm): Always makes me giggle at the shade name, but it’s a great soft rosey shade to make you look fresh and put together with one dash of a brush.

  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer (Soft Brown): This is one thing you’ll learn about me. Doing my brows is an absolute must. I won’t even take the trash out without ‘putting on’ my brows. The brow definer is my favorite Anastasia product. The shape of the pencil outshines the ‘brow wiz’ and allows me to get the perfect edge I’m looking for when drawing and filling in the iconic fuller brow vibe I’m into.

  • Ilia Clean Line Liquid Eyeliner: I have seen this brand emerge around the beginning of the pandemic, and I’d seen ads for it all over the place. However, I didn’t get hooked on this until recently. Their a natural makeup line, which I can appreciate. Especially since I have such sensitive skin, particularly my eyes. I went through years when I couldn’t even wear any other makeup on my eyes besides Trish McEvoy mascara because I couldn’t use makeup remover without my eyes stinging. But anywho, this eyeliner allows for a crisp, sharp line I love without the hassle.

  • Ilia Limitless Mascara: Another major win in the makeup department. The brush for this mascara is fire. It has almost a 2 part brush, one side for volumizing, and the other for separating the lashes. I really dislike a chunky lash look, so this make my lashes look bold and fresh without the chunk. Win win for us all!

  • Trish McEvoy Lash Curling Mascara: This used to be a daily look for me, until just recently when I introduced the Ilia Limitless Mascara. However, it was worth mentioning for this one reason. Tube Mascara. What is this you ask? Essentially you can remove the mascara by just applying warm water, and poof! The tubes around your lashes expand ever so slightly and pull off your lashes. Sounds weird, but it’s amazing. No need for burning eyes from makeup remover. it’s also nice because you never have mascara running down your face from a good laugh. Just a flake here and there.

  • Becca Cosmetics Shimmer (Opal): Although I don’t use this daily, when I do it’s a great addition to elevate a look to the next level. It’s an amazing highlighter, and eye shade. You can use it however it suits you best! I prefer to use it as an eye shade to make my look shimmery and fun for a night out.

  • Dior Glow Lip Oil Gloss (Rosewood): The sales gal that helped me find my perfect shade of this called the applicator a ‘toe’ and now I can’t get the image out of my mind whenever I apply this magical gloss. Celeb favorites like Bella Hadid and so many more, I’m obsessed with this stuff. It’s definitely got a high sheen look, but it’s a great everyday look that you can turn day to night. The Rosewood shade is a great neutral redish pink that I keep in my purse wherever I go!

  • Jo Malone Vitamin E Lip Conditioner: This stuff is so addicting it’s ridiculous. When I die I’m sure the autopsy will show that I ingested gallons of this stuff over the decades. I have one stuffed in every nook and cranny of my life. The car console, bedside table, bathroom drawers, kitchen junk drawer, and every purse. It’s the perfect way to keep your lips feeling healthy, smooth and moisturised.
